Besides his acting and directing ventures, Dhanush is known for his fiery speeches that often make headlines—and sometimes, are a part of memes as well. Ahead of his upcoming film Kara's release, the actor was probed about his viral 'Poes Garden' speech that was shared widely and became viral on social media during the promotions of Raayan.

For the unversed, the actor-director shared the story in 2024 behind his sprawling Poes Garden house in Chennai that is reportedly worth over Rs 150 crores. Upon hearing that his purchase made headlines and was a topic of debate, Dhanush said, "If I knew buying a house in Poes Garden would have become such a big topic, I would have stayed in a small apartment. Should I not buy a house in Poes Garden? If I live on the streets, should I stay there only?" He also revealed that he wanted to buy a house in the posh locality as a teenager when he saw houses of Rajinikanth and former late CM J Jayalalithaa.

Recalling the speech, Dhanush was asked about its virality and memes it generated online. He then narrated an incident where he was asked by a bus driver at the airport for a selfie. "After that, he told me that it was his first time taking a picture with a celebrity. This is because your speech on buying a property at Poes Garden has inspired my son and is motivating him to work harder. It is up to us if we want to take it as an inspiration or a meme material. The latter is also a form of entertainment and entertaining you is our job. Can I not say, 'Should people like me not buy a house in Poes Garden?'," he shared.
