Atlee and his wife Priya have welcomed their second child, a baby girl on Monday. The popular director took to his social media handles to share the happy news which was met with congratulatory messages from noted stars across the film fraternity including Samantha, Ananya Panday, Huma Qureshi and Kajal Aggarwal.

Atlee and Priya, who tied the knot in 2014, welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in January 2023. They named him Meer. The couple had in January announced that they were expecting their second child.

Atlee made his directorial debut with Raja Rani (2013) and later went on to direct Vijay back-to-back in Theri (2016), Mersal (2017), and Bigil (2019). All the three films went on to become commercially successful at the box office. He then found massive success in Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan (2023) which is among the highest grossing Indian films. Later, Theri was remade as Baby John in Hindi, which was released in 2024 and directed by Kalees. Atlee served as the producer for the film.

Up next, he is working on his much-anticipated film with Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone, which was recently titled as Raaka. The makers also shared an intense first look poster of the actor with kohl-rimmed eyes and clawed, almost-beast-like hand, suggesting that he could have a half human-half animal look in the film.
