After Atlee's first Hindi project, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan (2023) became highly successful at the box office, the director has been teasing a reunion with Shah Rukh Khan on another project.
Speaking to India Today, during the World Pickleball League, the director said, "Me and Shah Rukh sir will definitely work on something. But Jawan 2 (might happen) maybe some years later, not as the immediate next. But me and Shah Rukh sir, will definitely look into something, when it comes in its flow."
Shah Rukh Khan was also the lead of the reboot of Don (1978), which was directed by Farhan Akhtar. The actor reprised his role from Don (2006), in the sequel Don 2 (2011), also directed by Farhan. Later, in 2023, Ranveer Singh was announced to be stepping into the role with Farhan directing. However with reports of Ranveer Singh's exit from the project, multiple rumours have been passed around on various actors and directors being part of the project.
Addressing these rumours, Atlee said, "Even that's a rumour, I also read it. No, nothing like that."
