'Kannamma En Kannamma', the second single from Dhanush's Kara, was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. Featuring vocals and lyrics by Dhanush, the GV Prakash composition is a romantic ode by the titular character Karasaami to his wife, Selli (Mamitha Baiju).
Previously, the makers unveiled the first single, 'Vaaya En Karasaami', an intense religious track. It is sung by Arunraja Kamaraj, Anthony Daasan, Satyan, and VM Mahalingam based on Arunraja's own lyrics.
Dhanush has previously lent his voice to more than 15 of GV Prakash's compositions before 'Kannamma En Kannamma'. Some of his popular renditions of the composer's songs include, 'Un Mele' from Aayirathil Oruvan, 'Voda Voda Dhooram Korayala' from Mayakkam Enna, 'Kaathodu Kaathanen' from Jail, 'Vaa Vaathi (reprise)' from Vaathi, and 'Yedi' from Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam, among others.
The film is written and directed by Vignesh Raja of Por Thozhil fame. The cast includes KS Ravikumar, Karunas, Jayaram, Prithvi Pandiarajan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, MS Baskar, and Sreeja Ravi, among others.
The makers of Kara are yet to reveal details about the plot of the film, which marks Dhanush's 54th film. However, judging by the promotional materials, especially the recent poster where Dhanush can be seen encircled by fire, it appears to be an intense film with survival elements that is set in a village. "Sometimes, staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive," reads the tagline for the film.
The film is directed by Vignesh Raja from a screenplay he has penned alongside his Por Thozhil co-writer Alfred Prakash. It is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner alongside Kushmitha Ganesh. On the technical front, the film also has cinematography by Theni Eswar, editing by Sreejith Sarang, art direction by Mayapandi, and stunt direction by Dinesh Kasi.
Kara is slated for an April 30 release in theatres.
