The Nayanthara-Kavin starrer Hi, directed by Vishnu Edavan, is set for its theatrical release in April. In an recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Vishnu revealed that the script for Hi was specially written for Nayanthara, and that the actor was interested when she heard the story.

The director further revealed hints to the plot of the movie, saying, “I wanted to make films like Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008), and Santhosh Subramaniam (2008). I had directed my first film as a feel-good family drama." Further explaining the logic behind the film's title, the director said, "We wanted to keep it very simple and there is an element of this in the script."

Vishnu also explained the logic behind casting Kavin in the movie. “The character who loves Nayanthara shouldn’t be one of the usual heroes. We wanted this combination to have a little surprise. Generally, when writing a script, once the actors are decided, it's easy to take the story with them. Since the heroine Nayan was decided at the beginning, I wrote the script very quickly. After that, Kavin was the one who came to mind,” the director added.

Hi is produced by Seven Screen Studios. The film also stars K Bhagyaraj, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Adithya Kathir, KPY Kureshi, Prabhu, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Sathyan. It has music composed by Jen Martin.
