MS Bhaskar and Kamal Haasan have starred together in Dashavatharam, Unnaipol Oruvan, Uttama Villain, and Papanasam. After the announcement of him winning the award was made, MS Bhaskar, in an exclusive conversation with CE, told, " To represent ego in the form of such a small issue lies with the talent of the director, Ramkumar. I am happy that the film has been well received."

Parking was Ramkumar Balakrishnan's directorial debut. Apart from winning the Best Tamil Film at the 71st National Award, the film also received the award for Best Screenplay. The screenplay of the film was added to the library of Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. The Academy is the authority that awards the Oscars each year.

In Parking, MS Bhaskar played the role of a straightforward, but short-tempered and egotistical man, who fights with his neighbour over a shared parking space, which escalates into a battle that hurts everyone involved.
