The competition in Bigg Boss Tamil 9 is getting tougher and more interesting as the participants themselves are bringing in conflicts to beat their fellow competitors. On day 3, the captaincy task was the biggest highlight, as it marked the first captain selection process for the season. However, the episode also had a lot of bitter conflicts and engaging tasks.

The first issue started when Bigg Boss house members, Parvathy and Diwakar, went to the super deluxe house to sweep it. When Viyana demanded Parvathy pick up a mat while cleaning, the latter got offended by her tone and asked her to treat her respectfully. This developed into a full-blown argument as Viyana also asked Parvathy to avoid hitting the broomstick on the wall. As Ramya Joo, Subiksha and others joined the argument, Parvathy resigned and said she would no longer work for the luxury members.

Later, as a part of the morning task, the contestants were asked to open up about whom they think will get eliminated, who will win and how long they will stay in the house. A lot of housemates pointed at Parvathy, Diwakar and Praveen Gandhi when referring to elimination. When it came to winning, Sabarinathan was a unanimous vote. Lastly, while almost all contestants said they'll stay in the house for all 105 days, Nandhini, Diwakar, and Kalaiyarasan alone said they don't wish to stay till the end.

Next, Bigg Boss announced the first captaincy task for the season. It was revealed that the contestant who wins the task and becomes a captain gets the advantage of being saved from eviction for nearly 15 weeks. Only the Bigg Boss house members could participate, while the seven luxury members were asked to judge the task. Furthermore, for the first time in Bigg Boss Tamil history, the captain gets a dedicated room for themself.

The task for captaincy was titled 'Pongudhe Pongudhe'. When Bigg Boss uttered the title of the task, the participants were expected to run to a common vessel with milk, take some in their respective vessels and rush to the stove to boil it. Only 4 could do it at one time, with only 12 out of 13 getting the chance to qualify for the next round. After taking the milk, the four have to boil the milk to the brim, but they're disqualified if it spills over. Kani Thiru failed to participate and get the milk to the stove. The captain for the week is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Parvathy and Subiksha resumed a conversation about the fight earlier but failed to resolve the same, and both felt they were not being honest about their intentions. Later, all the housemates assembled at the kitchen to discuss Parvathy's resignation, at which time Kamruddin and Sabarinathan failed to notice the red light for the water task. A significant amount of water was wasted before they realised, following which they moved the discussion to the garden area. The argument only got more heated towards the end of the episode, paving the way for a more interesting day 4.
