At the grand launch of Bigg Boss Tamil 9, contestants were asked to make a choice between a red and a blue badge. After the host of the reality TV show, Vijay Sethupathi, introduced the contestants along with an AV, he asked them to pick between fire and water, with the former marked red and the latter marked blue. Based on their choices, they were given a red and blue badge, which the host and actor tied on the arms of the contestants.
The red-coloured badge was picked up by contestants, namely, Diwakar, FJ, VJ Parvathy, Kani Thiru, Kemy, Aadhirai, Viyana, Praveen Raj Dev, Apsara CJ, Vikkals Vikram, Sabarinathan and Kalaiyarasan. On the other hand, Aurora Sinclair, Tushaar, Praveen Gandhi, Ramya Joo, Gana Vinoth, Subhiksha, Nandini, and Kamrudin picked the blue badge.
After all the contestants were welcomed into the house, Bigg Boss addressed the 20 of them, who were grouped according to their badge colours. It was then revealed that this season, the Bigg Boss Tamil house has been split into two zones—the regular area and the Super Deluxe zone, which represents a special status within the house. The Super Deluxe status was assigned based on the badges chosen earlier, with the blue badge holders becoming the first to enter the exclusive zone.
Meanwhile, Kani Thiru earned a special mention for promptly referring to the tap water manual, as Bigg Boss announced that there would be no water supply in the house until the next day. Bigg Boss further revealed that the competition this season will be tougher than ever, urging the contestants to prepare for a series of intense and unpredictable challenges.
The ninth season of Bigg Boss is set to happen for 106 more days, with Vijay Sethupathi returning for the weekend episodes. The TV show can be streamed live on JioHotstar 24 hours.
