Idli Kadai box office Day 2: Dhanush-Nithya Menen’s entertainer maintains momentum, crosses Rs 20 crore mark

Idli Kadai is expected to continue with these numbers for the next few days, thanks to the festive holidays and the extended weekend

Dhanush's latest drama Idli Kadai has continued to register promising numbers at the box office in India. After registering Rs 11 crore on its opening day, the film earned Rs 10 crore on day 2, taking its total to Rs 21 crore, according to Sacnilk.com. Idli Kadai is expected to continue with these numbers for the next few days, thanks to the festive holidays and the extended weekend, and is expected to easily sail pass the Rs 50 crore mark soon.

The film's afternoon shows registered better occupancy at 70.02 per cent than the morning or night shows. Trichy and Chennai recorded the highest footfall in theatres with 76.25 per cent and 71.50 per cent respectively. Interestingly, Mumbai and NCR regions also had better occupancy with 63 per cent and 57.5 per cent respectively. Idli Kadai had an overall 23.13 per cent occupancy in the Telugu-speaking regions on Thursday.

Idli Kadai marked Dhanush's fourth directorial after Pa Paandi, Raayan and Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. Upon release, Idli Kadai has been receiving positive reviews, with many praising its heartwarming moments, while expressing their disappointment on the story's predictability.

Dhanush stars as Murugan in Idli Kadai who goes back to his roots to revive his father's Idli Kadai after working in a michelin star restaurant. The star cast also includes Nithya Menen as Kayalvizhi, Sathyaraj as Vishnu Varadhan, Arun Vijay as Ashwin who plays the antagonist, Samuthirakani as Marisamy, Rajkiran as Sivanesan, Shalini Pandey as Meera and Parthiban as R Arivu.

The technical crew comprises Dhanush's frequent collaborator, composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Kiran Koushik, editor GK Prasanna, and art director Jackson.

The film is produced by Akash Bhaskaran through his Dawn Pictures banner and Dhanush through his Wunderbar Pictures banner. The film marks Inban Udhayanidhi's (son of Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin) first film credit as a distributor.
