Dhanush, who both directed and starred in Idli Kadai, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to audiences following the film’s strong opening at the box office. Released on October 1, the film has already struck a chord with fans.

Taking to his X handle, the actor-filmmaker wrote, “Thank you all for the overwhelming love and affection towards our Idli Kadai. Blessed. Grateful.” The appreciation has not been limited to the cast alone. Sreyas, director of Wunderbar Films, also shared his note of thanks on X, writing, “Overwhelmed with love and gratitude. Thank you, each and every one of you. #IdliKadai.”

Dhanush's fourth directorial, the film has continued to register promising numbers at the box office in India. After registering Rs 11 crore on its opening day, the film earned Rs 10 crore on day 2, taking its total to Rs 21 crore, according to Sacnilk.com.

Dhanush stars as Murugan in Idli Kadai, who goes back to his roots to revive his father's Idli Kadai after working in a michelin star restaurant. The star cast also includes Nithya Menen as Kayalvizhi, Sathyaraj as Vishnu Varadhan, Arun Vijay as Ashwin, who plays the antagonist, Samuthirakani as Marisamy, Rajkiran as Sivanesan, Shalini Pandey as Meera and Parthiban as R Arivu.

An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads, "But there is something about Dhanush being vulnerable and good that he is effective in a role that might seem like a cakewalk, only because he makes it look that easy. The way Dhanush — the actor, filmmaker, and writer — mixes in folklore, divinity, and magical realism into the narrative is such a treat to watch."

The technical crew comprises Dhanush's frequent collaborator, composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Kiran Koushik, editor GK Prasanna, and art director Jackson. The film is produced by Akash Bhaskaran through his Dawn Pictures banner and Dhanush through his Wunderbar Pictures banner.
