A re-edited version of director N Lingusamy's 2014 film Anjaan is hitting theatres again. Recently, Lingusamy spoke about Suriya's character appearance in the film and how it appealed to the actor's fans at the time of its original release. "I saw Suriya sir with a similar look in only one film as a character named Rolex in the last eleven years," the filmmaker said, referring to the actor's cameo in Kamal Haasan's Vikram, in a recent conversation with Behindwoods. According to the Anjaan director, the lack of such films in Suriya's career around the time of its release contributed to its appeal among his admirers. The director also disclosed that Suriya's fans who liked the film told him about the same and wondered why it did not perform well at the box office at the time.
He added that Anjaan is the first film to be re-edited before its rerelease in theatres. Originally, the film was 2 hours and 36 minutes long. After the re-edit, it clocks in at two hours, with an interval at the halfway mark. "Suriya sir's fans like to seem him in a particular way, and we have done our bit to satisfy them," the filmmaker said.
