Dhanush: 'Why This Kolaveri' is both a blessing and a curse

His upcoming film Tere Ishk Mein will release in theatres on November 28

Actor-director Dhanush, who was at the Dubai Watch Week, spoke about how 'Why This Kolaveri' was made by accident, and its response was totally unexpected.

Dhanush said that the song was made but was scrapped, and other songs were being composed. "One day, we found this in our system and chose to hear it again. It sounded fun. Whatever is fun works, especially in a song. So we decided to give it a shot. All we needed was just a regional hit, but it went on to redefine the viral market and got a life of its own," he said.

Calling the song both a "blessing and curse," Dhanush said, "I am trying to run away from the song, but it keeps chasing me. After a decade, I am still losing to it."

Dhanush awaits the release of his upcoming film Tere Ishk Mein, which is debuting on November 28. The romantic drama, starring Kriti Sanon as the female lead, is Dhanush's third collaboration with Aanand L Rai, after Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re.
