Kaantha star Dulquer Salmaan recently talked about what it means to hail from a film family. Speaking to Gopinath, Dulquer was asked if it is advantageous or disadvantageous to come from a film family. “It is definitely an advantage. I do not think it is fair to ever say it is a disadvantage,” Dulquer said. The actor also discussed the flipside of being famous. “Sometimes, we might feel a little targeted or something. But I think anyone who reaches a certain level of fame or success will become targeted. Therefore, I do not think we should say it is a struggle or a disadvantage.”

Interestingly, Dulquer's legendary actor father Mammootty revealed many times that he does not directly help the former out in cinema, letting him carve out his own path.

Dulquer Salmaan plays a film star in an ego battle with his director (Samuthirakani) in the upcoming period film, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. Kaantha also stars Bhagyashri Borse in the female lead, as the Dulquer character’s heroine. The cast includes Rana Daggubati, who also produces the film under his Spirit Media banner alongside Dulquer's Wayfarer Films label. Kaantha is slated for a November 14 release in theatres.
