Superstar Rajinikanth has wrapped up the latest shooting schedule of his much-awaited sequel, Jailer 2, in Goa. The actor, who returned to Chennai last night, was greeted by hundreds of enthusiastic fans at the airport. Videos of Rajinikanth waving, smiling, and taking selfies with his admirers have since gone viral across social media.
According to reports, the Goa schedule featured major action-heavy portions integral to the storyline. With the schedule now completed, the film’s production will soon move to its next leg, which is expected to take place across multiple locations in India.
Reuniting with director Nelson, Jailer 2 marks Rajinikanth’s return to one of his most celebrated roles, Muthuvel Pandian. The film, backed by Sun Pictures, is touted to be bigger in scale, blending emotional depth with mass appeal. The team promises a sequel packed with “more action and emotion” than its 2023 predecessor.
The first Jailer, released in 2023, was a phenomenal box office success, hailed as Rajinikanth’s comeback film. Its chart-topping songs like 'Kaavaala', high-voltage sequences, and the superstar’s signature screen presence made it one of the year’s biggest hits.
The upcoming sequel will also see the return of Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa, with Vidya Balan and Anna Rajan joining the cast. Reports suggest that Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal will reprise their cameo appearances, while Nandamuri Balakrishna and Mithun Chakraborty are expected to play key roles.
With music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan, and editing by R Nirmal, the technical team remains as star-studded as the cast. The film is slated for a June 12, 2026, release and is expected to be another milestone in Rajinikanth’s legendary career.
