Actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth praised the Indian women's cricket team after they won the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 on Sunday. India defeated South Africa in the final match that took place in Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.
Taking to X, Rajinikanth wrote, "What a glorious moment for India! 🇮🇳 Our Women in Blue have redefined courage, grace, and power, inspiring generations to come. You’ve carried the tricolour across the world with a fearless, unbreakable spirit. Many congratulations! History has been made. Jai Hind!"
Further, Kamal Haasan wrote, "The 1983 moment of Indian women’s cricket has arrived! Your names will live in folklore. Their legacy will ignite a million dreams. Congratulations, Team India!"
India secured a 52-run win in the final match, securing their first-ever World Cup title. Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma played crucial roles both with bat and ball to help India secure a tense win after South Africa had won the toss and elected to bowl.
On the work front, Rajinikanth just returned to Chennai after wrapping the Goa schedule of his next film, Jailer 2. Helmed by Nelson, the film is slated for June 12, 2026. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan is working on KH 237, which is helmed by stunt choreographer duo Anbariv. Meanwhile, there are also speculations about a possible collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, but an official announcement is awaited.
