Soon after Chennai's Commissionerate of Prohibition and Excise summoning him in connection with drug acquisition and consumption, actor Srikanth has been arrested. It has been revealed that the actor bought the drugs at a rate of 12,000 per gram from a Salem native, identified as Pradeep Kumar. The transaction has taken place 40 times, says reports. Based on Pradeep's statements, law enforcement has discovered that a transaction of 4,72,000 has taken place between Srikanth and Pradeep. Law enforcement is yet to reveal further details about the transaction and the actor's arrest.

Srikanth, who made his acting debut with 2002's Roja Kootam, appeared in two films this year: Dinasari and Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal. The actor's arrest follows a spree of similar incidents in Kerala, with cops apprehending some notable names in Malayalam cinema, including actor Shine Tom Chacko as well as directors Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza.
