Actor Srikanth has been summonned by the Commissionerate of Prohibition and Excise in Chennai for procuring and consuming drugs illegally. The actor, known for his Tamil and Telugu movies, is currently under medical investigation by police and doctors at Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital to check for presence of drugs in his blood reports.
This development comes after the recent arrest of a man named Pradeep Kumar from Salem, who was allegedly involved in drug peddling along with John, a Ghana-based man. The arrest comes after days of surveillance by police to control and curb the usage and distribution of drugs in the city and state.
During interrogation, 11g of coccaine was confiscated from Pradeep, according to reports from Thanthi TV. He had reportedly told the police that he had supplied drugs to former AIADMK administrator Prasad who was already arrested by the Nungambakkam police. It was found during investigation that a Bengaluru-based Nigerian man had supplied drugs to them.
Police also found that actor Srikanth purchased drugs from Prasad. If his blood test reveals traces of these substances, he could face serious legal consequences, including possible imprisonment.
Srikanth debuted in Roja Kootam (2002) after which he continued to earn fame for his roles in April Maadhathil (2002), Parthiban Kanavu (2003), Oru Naal Oru Kanavu (2005), Poo (2008), and Nanban (2012), among others. This year, he acted in Dinasari and Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal.
