Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, wrapped up its opening weekend with an estimated ₹36.90 crore in India net collections. Despite a promising start, the film's earnings saw a steady decline over the four days, with Sunday offering little relief in terms of growth.

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Thug Life earned ₹6.50 crore across all languages on Day 4. This marks a slight dip from Saturday’s ₹7.75 crore haul, signalling a soft end to what was expected to be a robust opening weekend for the pan-India gangster drama.

The film opened on Thursday with ₹15.5 crore, its highest single-day figure so far. However, it suffered a sharp 53% drop on Friday, collecting ₹7.15 crore. A modest 8% uptick followed on Saturday, but the momentum didn’t sustain, with Sunday’s collection slipping below expectations.

Regionally, Thug Life continues to rely heavily on the Tamil market. On Day 3, the film earned ₹7 crore from Tamil Nadu alone. However, both its Hindi and Telugu versions have underperformed. The Hindi version, in particular, fell drastically from ₹0.65 crore on opening day to just ₹0.25 crore by Saturday, and occupancy in Hindi-speaking regions remained low through Sunday as well.

The film’s performance has been further impacted by competition from Housefull 5, which stormed into theatres with ₹23 crore on Day 1, eclipsing Thug Life's entire weekend total in a single day. The lack of strong word-of-mouth and mixed reviews has also limited the film’s box office potential, despite its star-studded cast that includes Trisha, Silambarasan, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, and music by AR Rahman.

With a total of ₹36.90 crore over four days, Thug Life is trailing significantly behind Kamal Haasan’s recent hits like Vikram, which earned ₹60 crore in just two days, and Indian 2, which managed ₹44 crore in its opening 48 hours despite poor reviews.

The coming weekdays will be crucial in determining whether Thug Life can find its footing and stabilise its earnings or fade quickly from theatres.
