Chinmayi Sripaada recently received a special present from KS Chithra and openly addressed her ban from singing in Tamil cinema. The renowned playback singer came as a guest on Asianet's Star Singer Season 10, marking her first appearance on a Kerala-based music competition. The episode aired recently, featuring returning judges KS Chithra, Vidhu Prathap, and Sithara. Following the show, Chithra affectionately reiterated that Chinmayi has always been her favourite among younger singers. "I like her singing that much. I am delighted you came all this way to bless and inspire our children," Chithra told Chinmayi, adding, "I could see their happiness and curiosity to learn each time they sang with you in the house. Keep inspiring all of us."
In a heartfelt gesture, Chinmayi immediately fell to Chithra's feet to seek her blessings. Chithra then presented Chinmayi with a Kerala Saree and playfully remarked, "You brought halwa for us, so I should also give you a present in return." Chinmayi graciously accepted it, promising, "I will wear this for Onam."
Recently, Chinmayi garnered significant appreciation for her rendition of 'Muththa Mazhai' at the audio launch of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's Thug Life. Speaking about it on the show, Chinmayi admitted that she has not anticipated the recent surge of attention on her. She also took the opportunity to address the long-standing ban from the Dubbing Union that prevents her from singing in Tamil cinema. “When I got banned, my life was shuttling between the court and house. I thought my career was over," the singer shared. "I get opportunities to sing in Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu now and then." She likened being unable to sing in her mother tongue to "getting expelled from your own house." Chinmayi also revealed that she had, at one point, vented her frustrations against God, but that she feels differently about divinity now. "Maybe it is God who has done all this. I do not know if humans can do it all. It is completely God’s blessings,” she concluded, reflecting on her recent resurgence in attention.
