Composer Sam CS has confirmed that director H Vinoth's next venture will be with actor Dhanush. This announcement puts to rest rumours suggesting that Vinoth has narrated a story to Rajinikanth. Reportedly, the collaboration between Vinoth and Dhanush was originally slated to materialise even before the director started working on Jana Nayagan, but the filmmaker received the offer to direct what is poised to be Vijay's final film as he is entering politics fully. Now, with Jana Nayagan completing its production, the path is clear for the collaboration between its filmmaker and Dhanush. According to an industry insider, the project is expected to commence immediately after Jana Nayagan hits the screens next Pongal. Reportedly, 7 Screen Studio's Lalit Kumar will produce the film, with Sam CS handling the music composition. No other details about the project are out to the public.

Vinoth made his directorial debut with2014’s Sathuranga Vettai. He is also known for films such as Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru with Karthi, as well as Nerkonda Paarvai, Valimai and Thunivu with Ajith Kumar. Beyond the film with Vinoth, Dhanush has a packed slate of upcoming projects. Dhanush has Idli Kadai, co-starring Nithya Menen, which he stars in and directs. Idli Kadai is slated for release on October 01 in theatres. His upcoming projects also include a biopic on the life of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Tere Ishq Mein with director Anand L Rai, and D56 with filmmaker Mari Selvaraj.
