Shane Nigam and Kalaiyarasan's upcoming film, Madraskaaran, can be watched by children above the age of 12 without parental supervision as the film clears censorship formalities with a U/A certificate.

Helmed by Vaali Mohan Das, who debuted with the coming-of-age drama Rangoli in 2023, Madraskaaran is set for a release on January 10

Madraskaaran, which marks Shane Nigam's debut in Tamil cinema, also stars Niharika Konidela, Aishwarya Dutta, Karunas, and Pandiarajan. The film will be Niharika's second Tamil project after Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren (2018). In an earlier interview with CE, writer-director Vaali said that the film revolves around the consequences of an ego clash between two people and that it centres on the idea of "how a negligible incident completely changes a person's life."

Madraskaaran is touted as an action thriller along the lines of Prithviraj Sukumaran's Ayyappanum Koshiyum and Driving Licence, as well as Shane's own Ishq. The film went on floors in February 2024 and wrapped shoot in June. It has cinematography by Prasanna S Kumar, editing by R Vasanthakumar, and music by Sam CS. The film is produced by B Jagadish through SR Productions.

Other Tamil films releasing for Pongal include Vanangaan, Kadhalikka Neramillai, Nesippaya, Madha Gaja Raja, Tharunam, and 2K Love Story. Shankar's Game Changers is also releasing for the festival.
