Tragedy struck on the set of Nivin Pauly's under-production film with director Nashid Famy as a crew member, named Vishnu, died of electric shock. According to a Mathrubhumi report, the 32-year-old was an electrician hailing from Thrissur. Vishnu experienced electrocution at the time of making electrical adjustments to facilitate the shoot in an Edayar-based production schedule. Binanipuram police arrived at the accident spot.
Shooting resumed on Wednesday following the tragic event. Also starring Aju Varghese and Rukmini Vasanth, the film is produced by Martin Prakkat and Nivin Pauly himself through their eponymous banners, alongside Siby Chavara and Renjith Nair of Green Room Productions.
On Thursday, Nivin condoled the demise of the young crew member. Taking to his Instagram Stories space, the actor shared a picture of Vishnu and wrote, "Rest in peace, brother. We will stand with your family." Meanwhile, the production banner Pauly Jr Pictures also shared Nivin's post as an Instagram story.
At the same time, Bhavana Studios expressed their deepest sympathies for Vishnu's passing. "Deepest condolences on the untimely passing of Vishnu," they wrote. It is worth noting that Bhavana Studios produced Nivin's latest blockbuster Bethlehem Kudumba Unit alongside Working Class Hero and Fahadh Faasil and Friends.
What makes the young man's death even more tragic for the NP 51 team is its timing, with Nivin recently celebrating the success of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit on the set of his under-production film.
Coming back to the upcoming film, tentatively titled NP 51, it is expected to release in the 2027 Vishu festival week. Nivin's upcoming releases also include Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai with Thanga Meenkal and Peranbu filmmaker Ram and Benz with Raghava Lawrence. He is also expected to commence filming his project with Premam director Alphonse Puthren towards the end of the year.
