Rajinikanth, who recently celebrated his 75th birthday, is currently busy working on Nelson's Jailer 2, the sequel to the director's 2023 eponymous film. While the newest additions to the cast are being revealed little by little, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty's appearance in the film was reported very early on. Now, the actor, in a recent Bengali interview, not only confirmed his casting but also revealed whom to expect cameos from in the upcoming sequel.

Speaking to SITI Cinema, who asked him about the stories that are impressing him of late, Mithun said in Bengali that Jailer 2 is one such story, with an ensemble of experienced stars joining the superstar. While mentioning the names, he said, "Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, Shivarajkumar," revealing that Bollywood star Shah Rukh is also a part of the film. However, it is yet to be officially announced by the makers, and the actor's role is also unknown.

Recently Shivarajkumar revealed that he has commenced shooting for his role in Jailer 2, in which his appearance is set to be a little longer. Helmed by Nelson, Jailer 2, which comes three years after Jailer, will see the return of Rajinikanth as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, alongside Ramya Krishnan, who portrayed his wife's role in the first film.

Vinayakan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Santhanam recently confirmed being a part of the cast. Additionally, Meghana Raj Sarja also confirmed that she is making her return to Tamil cinema with Jailer 2 in a key role. Malayalam actor Anna Raajan, best known for her breakthrough role in Lijo Jose Pellissery's Angamaly Diaries (2017), is also part of the cast. Details about the entire cast and plot are yet to be revealed by the makers.

Backed by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 will have music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by R Nirmal. Jailer 2 is slated for a release in theatres worldwide on June 12, 2026.
