Director Sudha Kongara has shared what went on behind casting Ravi Mohan as the antagonist in her upcoming directorial, Parasakthi. The film, which is currently in post-production, stars Sivakarthikeyan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela in lead roles.
Speaking to Vikatan, Sudha revealed that she wanted a Hindi actor for the role but later changed her mind. "Initially, I had planned to cast a Hindi actor for this role. But as the story evolved, I realised it needed a Tamil actor. No one had seen Madhavan as a boxing coach before Irudhi Suttru, and that novelty itself was beautiful. I wanted to recreate that sense of freshness again."
Somehow, Ravi Mohan got the script, but Sudha never thought he would agree to take on the role. She narrated, "The script eventually reached him, and after reading it, he called me himself. When I gave him this script, I told him very clearly, ‘There are negative shades. This is not a typical hero role.’ He replied, ‘Madam, do you really believe I can do this? The fact that you even thought of me means so much. I’ll come.’ I was honestly shocked by how readily he agreed." She then recalled how her relationship with the actor goes back to her first film. "The very first tweet praising Irudhi Suttru back then was from him. Whenever he meets me, he always shows such warmth."
Sudha is truly happy about working with this cast for Parasakthi. She praised them by saying, "One wonderful thing about this film is that once everyone came on board, no one looked back. No artist ever said, ‘My role is small,’ or ‘Your part is bigger,’ or questioned what they had. They simply committed themselves completely to what was asked of them. Ravi, especially, is an absolute delight and a phenomenal performer. In Parasakthi, you will see a Ravi you’ve never seen before.”
The film is also expected to feature Rana Daggubati, although the makers have not confirmed his casting. The film marks Sreeleela's debut in the Tamil industry.
Sudha has written Parasakthi along with Arjun Nadesan, with an additional screenplay by Ganeshaa and dialogues by Madhan Karky and Shan Karuppusamy. The crew of the film includes GV Prakash as the music composer, Ravi K Chandran as the cinematographer and Sathish Surya as the editor. Aakash Baskaran is producing the film under his Dawn Pictures banner.
Dev Ramnath is serving as the creative producer, along with MP Senthel and Rhea Kongara, who are serving as executive producers. Red Giant Movies is distributing the film. With post-production in full swing, Parasakthi is gearing up for a release on January 14, 2026.
