Allu Arjun to headline Lokesh Kanagaraj's Irumbu Kai Mayavi?

Speculations are rife that the Pushpa star has listened to the story but is yet to give a confirmation on the same

Talks for Lokesh Kanagaraja's dream project Irumbu Kai Mayavi has reportedly been revived with the noted filmmaker approaching Allu Arjun to headline the sci-fi film. Speculations are rife that the Pushpa star has listened to the story but is yet to give a confirmation on the same. It is to be noted that Suriya was set to star in Lokesh's original version which was later shelved due to reasons unknown.

Allu Arjun is currently busy with Atlee's much-anticipated untitled big budget entertainer, backed by Sun Pictures. AA22xA6 marks the director and actor's first collaboration and has Allu Arjun reportedly playing four different roles in one family. Deepika Padukone is also part of the project in an undisclosed role.

Lokesh Kanagaraj had last made Coolie, with Rajinikanth in the lead. Ahead of its release, many speculated that Aamir Khan would take over the project. However, Lokesh had denied these rumours and had listed the reasons why Irumbu Kai Mayavi didn't materialise over the years. "I wrote that story 10 years ago. I've used so many important things from that script in my recent films. If I avoid all of them and write it again, it'll be totally different from what I wrote previously. It's a superb action film and Irumbu Kai Mayavi will be a different one from the gangster genre," he said.

Lokesh has meanwhile started pre-production for his seventh project. While details regarding the film are unknown, it is said that it will be the director's first Telugu project. Confirmation regarding the same is awaited. He is also playing the lead for the first time in Arun Matheswaran's upcoming action film DC, which stars Wamiqa Gabbi as the female lead. Sun Pictures is backing DC, in their second collaboration with Lokesh after the Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie.
