Director Mohan G took to X and released a video statement through which he urged Chinmayi to clarify her earlier apology for singing 'EmKoney', a single from Mohan's Draupadi 2. When the announcement for the single was made, Chinmayi drew flak from social media for being associated with this project.

Chinmayi later apologied on X, and reiterated that she wasn't aware that the single was for Draupadi 2. She also mentioned that, "If I had known beforehand I would never have collaborated because the ideologies are at complete contradiction to mine. This is the absolute truth."

Mohan G also chimed in and wrote that technicians or other people contributing to the film, shouldn't be targeted, and that if it is his ideologies that are being targeted, then he should be held accountable.

Now, through a video on X, Mohan G mentioned that he wished for Chinmayi to sing 'EmKoney', as he was a long time fan. Mohan mentions that while he wasn't present during the recording, people from his team were present with Chinmayi to help understand the tone of the song.

He also addressed the flak that Chinmayi faced after the song was announced, and revealed that he expected Chinmayi to respond to that. Mohan said, "Chinmayi did not ask me or the music director (Ghibran Vaibodha) for an explaination. This was a surprise to us, as she didn't know what the film was about, and she could have asked us."

Mohan also addressed the mention of 'contradictory ideologies' by Chinmayi. He mentions that the conversations around belief is the most talked about ideology in the film. Mohan also mentions that to his knowledge she hasn't commented against faith, and explained her last name, Sripaada translated to the 'feet of God'. The director mentions that he is unable to understand the ideology which was contradictory.

He clarified that the video was to convey to Chinmayi to understand why the apology was warranted, and urged her to explain her apology. He mentions that the apology must have been provided by Chinmayi after she faced external pressure.

Mohan G reiterates that he is urging Chinmayi for an explanation so as to ensure that his film doesn't get affected.

Draupadi 2 is a sequel to Mohan's Draupadi (2020), and stars Richard Rishi and Rakshana Induchoodan in the lead. A release date for the film is yet to be revealed by the makers.
