During the 'Inimel' music video launch, director Lokesh Kanagaraj asserted that he is not moving away from direction and that he has three films in the pipeline. In the music video, he shared screen space with Shruti Haasan, who both composed and conceptualised the song.

On whether he would continue to act, following his stint in the 'Inimel' music video, Lokesh said, "I am 100 percent continuing to direct films. Acting is not going to be my constant. I only agreed because 'Inimel' needed just three days of filming. Currently, I am working on three films." He then added, "Thalaivar 171 will go on floors in June."

Apart from Thalaivar 171, Lokesh is also slated to work on Kaithi 2, starring Karthi.

Inimel, backed by RKFI (Raaj Kamal Films International), released on Monday. The indie song focuses on the ups and downs in a romantic relationship.
