The makers of Sarathkumar's 150th film, The Smile Man, announced the release date on Friday.

According to the announcement, the film will be released on December 27.

The film stars Sarathkumar as a police officer with Alzheimer's who is tasked with finding a copycat killer. The assassin leaves his victims in various places, such as under a bridge, in a field, and on top of a tree, with their mouths mutilated and stitched in a way that resembles a smile. Syam and Praveen directed the film from a Kamala Alchemis screenplay.

The makers released a poster earlier this year that hint at a dual role for Sarathkumar. In an earlier conversation, Syam said, "The Smile Man is a crime thriller starring Sarath sir in the role of a retired police officer with early signs of Alzheimer's. With a serial killer on the run, the character has to crack the case before he loses his memory."

The cast also includes Sija Rose, Ineya, George Maryan, Suresh Menon, Kumar Natarajan, and Aazhiya.

The film's technical team includes filmmaker Vikram Mohan, composer Gavaskar Avinash, and editor San Lokesh. Salil Das, Anish Haridasan, and Anandan T produced the film.
