The makers of debut director Shree Vettri's Narkarappor have announced the date of its theatrical release on Tuesday.

The film, starring Lingesh and Abarnathi in the lead roles, will hit screens on August 23.

The film's recently released trailer showed Abarnathi as a sanitation worker, whose son is belittled and often not allowed to enter school and other premises because of his caste identity. However, things change when his talent in chess transcends the boundaries of caste and community.

Suresh Menon, Aswin, Tamilarasi, and Anbu round out the cast of Narkarappor. The film's technical crew comprises music composer Dinesh Antony, cinematographers Arjun Ravi and Gnanasekar RS, and editor Ranjeet CK.

Narkarappor is produced by Velayudham's V6 Film banner.

The film will release along with Mari Selvaraj's Vaazhai and Soori and Anna Ben's Kottukkaali, directed by PS Vinothraj.
