Lokesh Kanagaraj to direct Rajinikanth in Thalaivar 171

Actor Rajinikanth, who was last seen in Jailer, will be collaborating with Lokesh Kanagaraj for upcoming Tamil film, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, the makers announced on social media on Monday. The film will be backed by Sun Pictures, which also produced Jailer.

Thalaivar 171 marks the first collaboration of Lokesh with Rajinikanth. The director has earlier worked with the stalwarts of the industry, including Vijay and Kamal Haasan. While he has worked with Kamal in Vikram, he directed Vijay in Master and upcoming Leo.

The upcoming film will have music scored by Anirudh Ravichander, a regular collaborator of Lokesh. The actor sequences will be executed by AnbAriv duo. The makers are yet to announce the rest of the cast and crew.

Meanwhile, Lokesh is awaiting the release of Leo on October 19. The film stars Vijay, Trisha, Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, among others. On the other hand, Rajinikanth will be making a cameo appearance in Lal Salaam and Thalaivar 170 with TJ Gnanavel.
