68th National Film Awards Ceremony: Suriya, Ajay Devgn and other winners felicitated

Tamil film Soorarai Pottru became the most celebrated film of this edition with wins

The 68th National Film Awards ceremony was held on Friday in New Delhi. In July, the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, announced the awards. The 68th National Film Awards ceremony was presided over by President Droupadi Murmu. The winning actors and technicians were present at the ceremony to receive the certificate and medal.

Veteran actor Asha Parekh was also felicitated with the Dadasaheb Phalke award 2020 for her exemplary and lifetime contribution to Indian cinema.

Tamil film Soorarai Pottru became the most celebrated film of this edition with wins for Best Film, Suriya (Best Actor), Aparna Balamurali (Best Actress), GV Prakash Kumar (Best Background Score), Sudha Kongara and Shalini Usha Nair (Best Screenplay). 

Besides, Madonne Ashwin won Best Debut Director for the Tamil film Mandela and he also took home the Best Dialogues award for the same film. Vasanth Sai's Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum won three awards — Best Tamil film, Best Supporting Actress for Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli, and Best Editing for Sreekar Prasad. Meanwhile, it may be noted that the acclaimed editor Sreekar Prasad won his ninth award and the third for Vasanth for Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum
