Jai Bhim joins list of films to be screened at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Jai Bhim, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is to be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The film festival is set to take place between 12 to 30 August. The Suriya starrer will be screened along with other Tamil films like The Road to Kuthriyar, Periyanayaki, and Parasakthi

Dobaaraa, directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring Taapsee Pannu, will open the film festival. The opening night of the event will be attended by celebrities like Samatha and Tamannaah, along with Abhishek Bachchan, Kapil Dev, Kabir Khan, Shefali Shah, and Vaani Kapoor. 

Jai Bhim is based on a real-life court case fought by Justice K Chandru. The film revolves around the story of a wrongly convicted tribal man. His pregnant wife, backed by a lawyer played by Suriya wage a war against the system to bring the truth to light.

Jai Bhim is produced by actors Suriya and Jyothika under the banner of 2D entertainment. Along with Suriya in the lead, the cast also includes Lijomol Jose, Manikandan, and Rajisha Vijayan. Sean Roldan composed the music for the film while S R Kathir worked on cinematography and Philomin Raj did the editing. The film streamed on Amazon Prime Video on 2 November 2021 and received positive reviews.
