Joyful Noise's actor KeKe Palmer and four-time Grammy winner SZA are set to star in a TriStar Pictures' buddy comedy film. Lawrence Lamont, director of Rap Sh!t, is set to direct the film from a Syreeta Singleton screenplay. Singleton served as the showrunner for Lamont's Rap Sh!t.

HOORAE's Sara Diya Rastogi and Issa Rae, Deniese Davis of ColorCreative, as well as Charles D. King, Poppy Hanks and James Lopez of MACRO Film Studios are producing the film. On the other hand, Singleton is serving as a co-producer. Big Boss' star KeKe and her mother Sharon Palmer are serving as executive producers. Macro Film Studios is co-financing and co-producing the film.

Keke Palmer is a singer, producer, television host and an Emmy-winning actor, who first rose to fame through her breakout role in Akeelah and the Bee and has gone on to star in more than 25 films and 30 TV shows. She is best known for her role in Jordan Peele’s Nope. Palmer recently made history by being the first black woman to win Outstanding Game Show Host at the 2023 Emmys for her work hosting NBC’s reboot of Password.

SZA is an Academy Award nominee and four-time Grammy-winning recording artist, who will be making her acting debut through this film. She was named Variety’s Hitmaker of the Year in 2023.

Palmer and SZA first teamed up in December 2022 for Saturday Night Live when Palmer hosted and SZA was the musical guest.

The film's title and its plot are still under wraps.
