Rajinikanth registered his wishes for the chess players participating in the Chess Olympiad 2022, which officially kick starts today in Chennai. The actor posted a throwback picture of himself playing chess on Twitter with a caption that read “ChessOlympiad2022 An indoor game I love the most, wishing all the chess minds the very best, god bless.”

The 44th Chess Olympiad will see players and teams from all around the world descend to Chennai for the event. The state government pulled no stops in launching the event in a grand manner. From painting the iconic Napier's Bridge in chequered black and white to announcing the event mascot Thambi, the city has been gearing up for the event for well over a month.

Ahead of the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister M K Stalin inspected the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium and Poonjeri in Mamallapuram, where the event is set to take place. Earlier last week, Oscar winner A R Rahman composed a song for the event's promotions, and the chief minister himself made an appearance in the video. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to launch the Olympiad, which is set to take place between 28 July to 10 August.
