Director Mohan G: Rudra Thandavam is not an anti-conversion film

CE Features

The cast and crew of Rudra Thandavam met the press ahead of the film's release on October 1. The film's director Mohan G, heroine Darsha Gupta, Radha Ravi and composer Jubin were present at the event.

Radha Ravi, who plays an important role in the film began his speech hinting at his displeasure over the extensive usage of Gautam Menon's picture in the promotions, "Nowadays talent and experience have taken a back seat, only the visibility of the actor matters. Being someone who has been in the industry for so long, I feel hurt when the audience isn't even aware of my presence in such films." He went on to reveal that he plays a lawyer belonging to the scheduled caste and the film isn't against Dalits. "People have to understand that films don't have the power to either save or harm them. If messages in films translate to reality, evil corporates would have been abolished by now. But, ironically the stars end up selling the same film to these corporates."

Mohan G, who spoke at the last, shared that his previous film Draupathi fetched him 23 times profit and his new film is a technically stronger and more refined film. "The spark for Rudra Thandavam came from a pastor. It is not targeted against any particular religion or community. I have only called out certain people who tried to hurt my religious sentiments and I will continue doing it if they repeat it."

Accepting the criticisms on the making of his previous film, he said, "Draupathi was made on a shoestring budget and we shot the film with a single camera setup. We couldn't afford much. But now I have learnt from my mistakes, I am confident that the audience won't find fault with Rudra Thandavam."

Starring Rishi Richard in the titular role, the film is said to be a social thriller based on real-life events.
