Speculations are rife that the recently-released Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum (RARA) is inspired by the Marathi film Rangaa Patangaa. It is said that Arisil Moorthy, the director of RARA, lifted the story without the knowledge of the makers of the original.

After RARA was released on Amazon Prime Video, many pointed out the similarities between both these films. Suriya, who is the producer of RARA, has learned about this and has decided to compensate for the banner that owns the remake rights of Rangaa Patangaa.

It is also said that Arisil Moorthy initially wanted to buy the remake rights of Rangaa Patangaa but decided against it after he tweaked the script to make it appealing to the sensibilities of the Tamil audience.

RARA is a satire revolving around a couple's search for their beloved bulls, Vellaiyyan and Karuppan. Their frantic search soon turns into a bigger issue with media and politicians twisting it for their benefit. Mithun Manickam, Ramya Pandian, and Vani Bhojan play the main roles in the film.

Rangaa Patangaa is also about a farmer who has lost his oxen. The film stars Makarand Anaspure and Sandeep Pathak in the lead role, while Nandita Dhuri, Gauri Konge, Bharat Ganeshpure essayed the supporting roles. It is available for streaming in Disney + Hotstar.
