Viruman marks Karthi's reunion with director Muthaiah after Komban. The film has director Shankar's daughter Aditi making her acting debut.

In his tweet, Karthi wished Aditi a great career ahead. He also expressed his happiness in having Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music director and his gratitude to brother Suriya, who is the film's producer.

Viruman also stars Rajkiran, Prakash Raj, and Soori in prominent roles. The film, billed as a rural-based mass entertainer, takes Karthi back to Madurai 14 years after he shot his debut film, Paruthiveeran.
