Silambarasan has joined the sets of his upcoming film, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, after completing his promotions for Maanaadu. The actor shared a picture on his Twitter handle to confirm that he has rejoined the sets of Gautham Vasudev Menon's directorial.

Silambarasan is seen holding a pistol in a black and white shot. The film is an action thriller penned by B Jeyamohan and produced by Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International.

The female lead in the film is Kayadu Lohar, and also stars Radikaa Sarathkumar in a pivotal role. It is speculated that Simbu wanted to work on a project that was rustic and raw, so GVM adapted the basic plotline from the popular poem Agni Kunjondru Kanden by Subramania Bharati with Jeyamohan's help.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu also stars Malayalam actor Siddique as the primary antagonist. In a recent media interaction, Siddique revealed that Gautham Menon called him up after being impressed with his performance in the Malayalam film Sufiyum Sujathayum.

Siddique added that he is playing a Malayali character named Kunjukrishnan in the film, which tells the story of street thugs in Mumbai. Siddique shot for his portions in sets erected in Chennai. Interestingly, he has still not had a combination scene with Simbu.

With music by AR Rahman, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and editing by Antony.
