In what came as a pleasant surprise to the scores of Suriya fans, the actor, who turns 45 today, joined Instagram. 

He shared a photo of himself in white and captioned it, "Happy to be here and meet you all. Let's spread love and positivity... #StaySafe #LoveUAll"

For now, the actor is following just two accounts — 2D Productions (his home banner) and Rajasekar Pandian, the CEO of 2D Productions. 

The release of Suriya's upcoming film, the much-awaited Soorarai Pottru has been affected by the global pandemic. Meanwhile, Suriya is also part of Vetri Maaran's Vaadi Vaasal, Hari's Aruvaa. The shooting schedules of these films will be decided upon after the situation improves in the country and the lockdown regulations are relaxed.
