In a Twitter Spaces interaction organised to mark his birthday, composer Santhosh Narayanan took questions from fans on social media and broached a variety of topics, including the contemporary music scene and upcoming films he is working on. Responding to a question about Sarpatta Parambarai, Santhosh said that he cannot wait for the film to get released and that he’s excited about his own work in the film. He also added that the Pa Ranjith film, starring Arya and reportedly about the 80s boxing culture in North Chennai, would mark a return for the filmmaker back to his “Madras zone”.

It must be noted that Ranjith’s second film, Madras, was notable for how it painted an intimate, yet descriptive portrait of life in North Chennai, without the pressures of having to play up the protagonist played by Karthi. It remains to be seen what aspects of Madras we can expect to see in Ranjith’s next film, Sarpatta Parambarai.
