Tughlaq Durbar to have a television premiere

CE Features

Vijay Sethupathi's Tughlaq Durbar will skip theatrical release and have a television premiere on Vinayagar Chathurthi. The film will premiere on Sun TV on September 10. It was earlier speculated that the film might be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, but a source close to the unit has confirmed that after the television premiere, the film will stream on Netflix.

Helmed by debutant director Delhi Prasad Deenadayal, the film is said to be a fantasy comedy with dialogues penned by Balaji Tharaneetharan. The film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Manjima Mohan, and Parthiban. Produced by Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio, Tughlaq Darbar has music by Govind Vasantha.

Interestingly, Tughlaq Darbar is not Vijay Sethupathi's first film to skip a theatrical release. His Ka Pae Ranasingam premiered on ZEE5 last year. Some of his upcoming films like Kadaisi Vivasayi, Laabam and Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir are speculated to take the OTT route too. His next release, Navarasa will also premiere on Netflix.
