While talking at the press meet of Kavalthurai Ungal Nanban, producer T Siva of Amma Creations said that theatres will be shut from March 27.

This action is to protest against the local body tax imposed by Tamil Nadu government and the newly-proposed TDS of 10%.

Speaking at the event, Siva has said that only 10% of the people in cinema are earning profit while the rest suffer due to heavy taxation. He said that central and state governments should intervene and take action to change the current state of affairs.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Distributors Association also said that they will not be distributing the film till the government stops deducting the local body tax of 8%, which is imposed on top of the GST (12%).
