The upcoming Mad Max prequel titled Furiosa has a new release date. The Warner Bros film is all set to hit the theaters on June 23, 2023.

After the return of the franchise in 2015 with Mad Max: Fury Road, there wasn't much information regarding the prequel. It was later announced that Anya Taylor-Joy (of The Queen's Gambit fame) would take over Charlize Theron's role as the lead character Furiosa. More additions were made to the cast with the inclusion of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Chris Hemsworth.

The film will be written and directed by George Miller, the director behind the original 1979's Mad Max and its three sequels. Miller will also produce the film along with Doug Mitchell.

Warner Bros has now also announced that Furiosa will be released in theatres on June 23, 2023, and won't be made exclusive for HBO Max. Earlier, the studio had announced that all its 2021-slated releases will premiere in both theatres and on HBO Max.
