The shooting of Rajinikanth's Annaatthe, which recently resumed at Ramoji Rao film city in Hyderabad  after a long break owing to the Covid outbreak, has been halted as multiple crew members have tested positive for the coronavirus. Rajini himself has tested negative and has reportedly been advised to isolate himself and take rest in Hyderabad.

The team of Annaatthe had been shooting indoors in a bio bubble. Reports emerged earlier today that eight members of the crew had tested positive for Covid-19. The film's production house Sun Pictures later officially announced that only four people had been affected and that Rajini and the rest of the team had tested negative for the virus.

Annaatthe was recently in the news as Rajini was reportedly working for 14 hours a day to finish the shooting quickly.

Today's unexpected development will likely delay the project, which was announced as a Pongal 2021 release back in May.

The Siva directorial, also starring Nayanthara, Khushbu, Meena, Prakash Raj and Soori, has music by D Imman.
