CE Features

Award-winning filmmaker Sooni Taraporevala's film, Yeh Ballet, currently streaming on Netflix, has been receiving critical acclaim. In yet another accolade for the Netflix original film, Reed Hastings, the CEO of the streaming giant, has suggested Yeh Ballet in his list of recommendations.

Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur's Roy Kapur Films, Yeh Ballet becomes the first Indian film to make it to Hastings' list of recommendations.

Sooni, known for writing Salaam Bombay and The Namesake, first made a documentary about the journey of two gifted teenagers from the underprivileged areas of Mumbai trying to fulfil their dreams of being dancers and the obstacles they face on this path. She then adapted it into a full-length feature.

The film stars Manish Chauhan and Achintya Bose play the two boys — dance show winner Nishu and his rebellious friend Asif. Manish is one of the two real-life dancers who inspired Sooni.
