Karthi wasn't the first choice for Kaithi: Lokesh Kanagaraj

A prison break drama, the film stars Ramana, Anjathey-fame Naren, and George Mariyaan in important roles

With the second film of director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who made an impressive debut with Maanagaram, Kaithi, all set to be released this Diwali, the filmmaker has revealed in a recent interview that the film's script was originally written with Mansoor Ali Khan in mind. "When Karthi came into the picture, I rewrote the script for him," he has been quoted as saying.

A prison break drama, the film stars Ramana, Anjathey-fame Naren, and George Mariyaan in important roles and incidentally does not have a heroine. The action thriller, which is said to portray events happening over four hours, has some intense action blocks, choreographed by the stunt master duo, Anbariv.

Bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures and Vivekananda Pictures, Kaithi has music by Sam CS and cinematography by Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru-fame Sathyan Sooryan.
