It was widely speculated that Pa Ranjith was set to collaborate with Arya for an upcoming film. Now, reports suggest that Ranjith regulars, Kalaiyarasan and Dinesh, are also part of the project. Notably, Dinesh played the lead in Ranjith’s first directorial, Attakathi, and is also starring in the filmmaker's second production, Irandam Ulaga Porin Kidaisi Gundu. Kalaiyarasan has starred in Attakathi, Madras, and Kabali. 

The upcoming project is rumoured to be a boxing film set in the backdrop of North Madras, and the project is set to go on floors soon. Meanwhile, Ranjith is also working on a Hindi film based on tribal leader Birsa Munda.

Arya, whose last release was Magamuni, will next be seen in Suriya-KV Anand’s Kaappaan, which is slated for a September 20 release.
