After 15 weeks, 105 days, Bigg Boss 3 Tamil came to a close tonight, and Mugen Rao, the overwhelming crowd and house favourite, was crowned the winner.

The Bigg Boss team announced that over 20 crore votes were polled in the finals, and Mugen lifted the title after receiving over 7 crore votes. While Sandy was the runner-up, Losliya and Sherin came in third and fourth, respectively.

With every former housemate, barring Madhumitha and Saravanan, in attendance, Mugen was handed the title by host Kamal Haasan.

Mugen, who takes home the winner's cheque of Rs 50 lakh prize, said, " From my will, my heart, I have to thank the people of Tamil Nadu, Malaysia, and the rest of the world, for showering with so much love and recognition."

The common theme during the grand finale was the genuine warm camaraderie on display by all the housemates.

Earlier, Sherin was the first finalist to walk out. Last season's winner was asked to deliver the news inside the house. In a surprising addition, Shruti Haasan entered the house to announce the second eviction of the day - Losliya.  With just Mugen and Sandy left inside the house, the duty of ushering them into the grand finale stage was done by Kamal Haasan himself.

After winning the title, Mugen gushed about his new found acceptance and affection from the people of Tamil Nadu. "I thank the universe for guiding me here. The people of Tamil Nadu are always kind to the ones who come for shelter and acceptance. This title here is the symbol of the love I've got from everyone."
