The much-anticipated first look and the title of Vijay’s upcoming film with Atlee, Bigil. were released yesterday on eve of the actor's birthday.

Bigil's first look featured the actor in two different looks — a young footballer and an older Vijay wearing a veshti — set against the backdrop of a fish market. The second look poster, which was released later at midnight, showed Vijay in four avatars: a youthful football player, a slightly older player with the name Michael on his sports jersey, a professional football manager, and a rugged old gangster. 

The film has Nayanthara playing the female lead, and this is her second film under Atlee's direction after Raja Rani. The latest speculation doing the rounds is that Nayanthara will be playing a character named Angel in Bigil. Whether this is the name of her character or just how Vijay's character addresses her in the film is yet to be ascertained. 

Touted to be a sports drama, Bigil  also features Indhuja, Varsha Bollamma, Amritha, and Reba Monica John as footballers, whose team will be coached by Vijay's character. Apart from them, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Vivekh, and Yogi Babu are also part of the film, playing supporting characters.

Produced by AGS Entertainment, Bigil is slated for a Diwali release. With the film in its final leg of the shoot, we hear that the team will be moving to Delhi soon to shoot some important portions.

Earlier this month, AR Rahman, the composer of Bigil, had taken to Twitter to announce that the first edits of two songs from the film were ready.
