Parineeti Chopra will star in the official Hindi remake of The Girl On The Train. Released in 2016, the mystery thriller starred Emily Blunt as an alcoholic divorcee who gets embroiled in a missing persons investigation. The original film, co-produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and DreamWorks Pictures, was adapted from Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel of the same name. The Hindi version will be directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and produced by Reliance Entertainment.

Speaking about stepping into Emily’s shoes for the role, Parineeti said, “I want to do roles that audiences haven't seen me in before and ones that require a lot of prep and homework, which is why The Girl On The Train really worked for me. The character is an alcoholic and a victim of abuse, and I haven't explored anything like her on screen before.”

Welcoming Parineeti on board, Ribhu said, "The character is edgy, dark, and gritty along with being extremely emotional. So it is great to team up with someone like Parineeti, who is an extremely sincere actor and a powerful performer.”

Ribhu Dasgupta’s previous works include Te3n, Yudh, and Michael. Parineeti Chopra was last seen in Kesari. Her upcoming release is Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, co-starring Arjun Kapoor.
